Restore Resilience - Reconnect with Humanity
Training grounded in science and mindfulness skills practice
This is a virtual delivery of training that we normally conduct as a residential immersion. Training will take place on Zoom at the dedicated training space of your choosing.
This is the first virtual intensive training that is, in part, inspired by the incredible work of our public safety personnel in Portland, Oregon during a protracted and chaotic operation tempo that has lasted over 100 days.
This training is offered to first responders, front line workers and their spouse/partners. If you are a mindfulness trainer, mental health clinician or other community member who is interested, please email us at info@mindfulbadge.com and we can provide information about upcoming trainings that are designed specifically for you.
As a salute of gratitude to Rose City first responders and front line workers, the Mindful Badge team is offering this training at a special tuition (see below). This tuition discount is extended to front line workers, first responders and others who are working tirelessly during COVID, hurricane recovery, wildland (and urban) firefighting, and other humanitarian work.
We have some scholarships available. Email Richard for that info (richard@mindfulbadge.com).

Health, Humanity & Performance
Now more than ever we have a need to train knowledge and skills that support our whole health, cultivate and sustain our humanity, and resource our capacity to perform our tradecraft at the edge of chaos.
This training goes beyond wellness, beyond survival and takes us on a journey into the confluence of science and wisdom to shape new possibilities for our health, humanity and performance. This atypical training model isn’t an easy lift. We will skillfully guide you into greater awareness of self, into the practice of fierce compassion for self and others, and more skillful regulation of mind and body.
This is evidence-based, proven, practical and tactical skills training.
Instructors
We are joined by special guest trainers from Pacific University and the Center for Mindful Self Compassion. Dr. Sarah Bowen will do a piece on addiction. Dr. Mike Christopher will cover the science of resilience. Dr. Steve Hickman will delivery a training session on self compassion.
Brian Shiers, MA (psychotherapist and Mindful Badge trainer in Los Angeles) will cover the new science of emotions, thoughts and feeling states. Suzzana Hasnay (SSA FBI, Ret. and Mindful Badge trainer in Virginia) will train a piece on body movement.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a category of mind training that explores the three different modes of attention and trains them to enhance new forms of concentration, self-awareness, and situational awareness to enhance all cognitive, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills.
Health, Humanity, Performance
This training is an examination into the science and experience of mindfulness as it relates to health, humanitarian ethos, and human performance optimization in all domains. These skills provide the foundation to thrive through adversity and trauma and the wisdom to understand strategies for recovery, pliability and striving toward sustained post-traumatic growth.
Experiential & Instructional
This is an intensive introduction to the science of the mind and cognitive conditioning through mindfulness meditation and mindful movement. Opportunities for experiential practice through guided and individual meditations and instructions around mindful movement.
This event is open to first responders and their spouses/partners.
Technology
We will train via Zoom Meeting or Webinar. We will also livestream to the Mindful Badge YouTube channel. You can join Zoom via mobile device, tablet or computer. We will send out information/recommendations around creating a dedicated training space a week before training starts.
